Abstract

Calcium levels in the trans-Golgi network, governed by SPCA1, and the calcium-binding protein Cab45 drive the polarized apical secretion of soluble proteins. The critical role of a calcium-dependent Cab45 mechanism in the regulation of exocytosis in polarized MDCK cells is highlighted.
