Abstract

The fission yeast polycystin channel Pkd2 is required for the expansion of cell volume during cell growth and cytokinesis. Here, we discovered that Pkd2 is permeable to calcium when it is activated by membrane stretching, and this putative channel promotes separation calcium spikes during cytokinesis.
