On the inference of ERK signaling dynamics from protein biosensor measurements

Abstract

Live-cell microscopy is used to infer dynamics in single cells. Here, ERK signaling was monitored using four different biosensors in a common cell context. Each responds with unique kinetics, reflecting differences in ERK localization and activity. Mathematical modeling offers an interpretation of the data and may be used to guide biosensor design.
