Abstract
Most of our epithelial tissues are innervated by neurons, but little is known about how axon contact affects epithelial cell organization. This study finds that sensory axon contact reorganizes membrane lipids, actin, and junctions in zebrafish epidermal epithelial cells, allowing them to ensheath those axons.
