Abstract

ZC3HC1 is presented as a protein with a bimodular construction essential for binding to the nuclear basket and protein TPR. This bimodular domain is presented as the characterizing element of ZC3HC1 homologues in other phyla. Pml39p is identified as the homologue in budding yeast, where it is shown to enable interlinkage of Mlp1 polypeptides.
