Abstract

The role of the novel protein Mrx8, a putative GTPase essential for optimal Cox1 translation under cold stress, is reported. Additionally, GTPBP8, the human orthologue, rescues cellular respiration in Δ cells and localizes to the mitochondria in mammalian cells, indicating a universal role of the MRX8 family of proteins.
