Features of Life-Meaning Orientations and Self-Attitudes among Students of Creative Fields of Study

Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study, the purpose of which was to study the differences in indicators of life orientations and self-attitudes. The relevance of this study is related to the study of the specifics of the individual psychological characteristics of the personality of students of creative fields in the period of late adolescence and early adulthood. The authors reveal the phenomena of life-meaning orientations and self-attitudes from the standpoint of domestic and foreign studies; features of student age and students of creative spheres. Among them, along with the main leading feature – the need for creativity, such features as denial of norms, freedom of thought, lack of conformity, independence, the ability to use the acquired knowledge and experience in new areas are named. The article discusses the results of the study of the specifics of the claimed phenomena in students of creative fields of study. The obtained differences in the indicators of students of creative fields of study in comparison with psychology students are analyzed. As a result of the study, it was found that the characteristics of creative students are specific in terms of the level of formation of indicators of life orientations and in negative and positive trends in the expression of components of self-attitude, such as "self-confidence", "reflected self-attitude", "self-worth", "internal conflict" and "self-blame". The results of the study indicate that there are differences in the studied indicators and confirm the stated hypothesis that students of creative spheres have specific characteristics of life-meaning orientations and self-attitudes in comparison with students of helping areas of study.
