To the Development of a Complex System of Training Specialists in Foreign Economic Activity

Abstract

The article touches upon the issue of training specialists in foreign economic activity, and contains a number of ideas for updating and improving the system of training economists at universities. The authors highlight the importance and relevance of training well-qualified economists and question the current general approach to economic education in the country; they also describe the national and regional trends in the system of higher education in the recent 10-15 years, and the emanating problems. The article outlines the history and the peculiarities of training specialists in world economy and foreign economic activity by the example of Irkutsk region. The authors rationalize and substantiate the necessity of fundamental changes in the current approach and process of training economists at universities. In conclusion, the authors propose a list of complex measures aimed at improving and developing the relevant programs of higher education, which eventually may provide Irkutsk region and the country as a whole with highly qualified specialists in foreign economic activity.
