1. 1) N. F. Mott, H. Jones: “The Theory of the Properties of Metals and Alloys”, Dover Publication, Inc., New York (1958). Japanese translation is publishhed.
2. 2) Original paper of Jahn-Teller effect; H. A. Jahn, E. Teller: Proc. Roy. Soc., A161 (1937) 220-235. Many original papers investigated from chemical aspects and review papers have been reported. For example, see J. D. Dunitz and L. E. Orgel: J. Phys. Chem. Solids, 3 (1957) 20-29. The paper is an excellent report on lattice distortion (that is, Jahn-Teller effect). The Japanese translation (by H. Kobayashi, 1968, Iwanami Book Co. Ltd.) of “An introduction to Transition-Metal Chemistry: Ligand-Field Theory” (L. E. Orgel) is recommended as a suitable review in Japanese.
3. 3) A. S. Grove: “Physics and Technology of Semiconductor Devices”, John Wiley and Sons, Inc., New York (1967).
4. 4) J. Crank: “The Mathematics of Diffusion”, Clarendon Press, Oxford (1956). The cheap paperback has been published.
5. 5) Original papers related with LSS theory are not easily available. Refer to some relating Japanese papers because the author has read only a part of the original papers. One of the representative papers: J. Lindhard, M. Scharff and H. E. Schiott: Mat. Fys. Medd. Dan. Vid. Selsk., 33 (1963), No. 14, p3-40.
