Abstract

This article explores the utility of NVivo, a qualitative data analysis software, for conducting literature reviews on complex concepts, focusing on 'Teaching Excellence' in higher education. NVivo facilitates the management, organization, and analysis of extensive textual data, which is paramount for dissecting multifaceted topics. Through a methodical approach involving searching, collecting, coding, categorizing, thematic analysis, and Grounded Theory, NVivo aids in synthesizing diverse perspectives on 'Teaching Excellence'. The process resulted in identifying core themes such as pedagogical effectiveness, student engagement, innovation, and reflective practice, contributing to a nuanced model of 'Teaching Excellence'. The use of NVivo offers several advantages, including efficiency in data management, enhanced analytical depth, and intellectual rigor, demonstrating its invaluable role in academic research. This case study highlights NVivo's potential as a crucial tool in academia, suggesting its applicability in other areas of educational research to deepen and broaden academic discourse. The findings hold significant implications for higher education policy and practice, encouraging further exploration of NVivo's application in educational research.
