Abstract
A simple, rapid, convenient, easily interpreted azo dye colony-staining technique was developed to detect fungal mutants lacking β-glucosidase activity on a 6-bromo-2-naphthyl substrate. The procedure includes net replication of colonies and chemical restriction of colony growth to allow testing of many colonies per culture dish.
