Abstract

The wide range of clinical severities exhibited by invasive Kingella kingae infections strongly suggests that isolates differ in their genomic contents, and strains associated with life-threatening endocarditis may harbor distinct genomic determinants that result in cardiac tropism and severe tissue damage. The results of the present study show that no single gene discriminated between asymptomatically carried isolates and invasive strains.
