Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis , is the leading cause of death among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients. The precise mechanisms by which HIV impairs host resistance to a subsequent M. tuberculosis infection are unknown.
