Uropathogenic
Escherichia coli
(UPEC) is a frequent cause of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI). Biocides have been incorporated into catheter coatings to inhibit bacterial colonization while, ideally, exhibiting low cytotoxicity and mitigating the selection of resistant bacterial populations.
