Abstract
A 4.3-kilobase mitochondrial DNA fragment was cloned from
Gaeumannomyces graminis
var.
tritici
, the causative agent of take-all disease of wheat. Although this DNA fragment hybridized with all three varieties of
G. graminis
, it showed little homology with DNA from other fungi and thus should be useful for identification of
Gaeumannomyces
sp. recovered from infected plants.
