Abstract
ABSTRACT
To improve turnaround time and decrease the cost of the identification of
Candida glabrata
, we evaluated four methods for the detection of trehalose assimilation or fermentation. These methods were compared with the API 20C method (bioMERIEUX, Hazelwood, Mo.) to determine accuracy. We recommend the use of Remel Rapid Trehalose Assimilation Broth because of its rapid, 3-h results, reasonable sensitivity, and low number of false positives.
