Abstract

Y. pestis , the etiologic agent of plague, has been responsible for high mortality in several epidemics throughout human history. The plague bacillus has been used as a biological weapon during human history and is currently one of the most likely biological threats. PsaA and PsaE appear to play important roles during Y. pestis infection. Understanding their regulation by environmental cues would facilitate a solution to impede Y. pestis infection.
