Abstract

Entamoeba histolyticais the cause of amoebiasis, a diarrheal disease of global importance. While infection is often asymptomatic, the trophozoite (amoeba) form of this parasite is capable of invading and ulcerating the intestine and can disseminate through the bloodstream to other organs.
