Abstract

Microbial activities in oxygen minimum zones (OMZs) transform inorganic fixed nitrogen into greenhouse gases, impacting the Earth’s climate and nutrient equilibrium. Coastal OMZs are predicted to expand with global change and increase carbon sedimentation to the seafloor.
