Abstract

Malaria begins when an infected mosquito injects saliva containing Plasmodium sporozoites into the skin of a vertebrate host. Passive immunization of mice with antiserum against the Anopheles gambiae mosquito saliva protein TRIO (AgTRIO) offers significant protection against Plasmodium infection of mice.
