Abstract

Mushroom-forming fungi include some of the most efficient lignocellulosic plant biomass degraders. They degrade dead plant materials by a battery of lignin-, cellulose-, hemicellulose-, and pectin-degrading enzymes, the encoding genes of which are under tight transcriptional control.
