Abstract
New regulatory limits for 1,4-dioxane in groundwater have been proposed or adopted in many countries, including the United States and Canada, generating a direct need for remediation options as well as better tools for assessing the fate of dioxane in an environment. A comprehensive suite of biomarkers associated with dioxane degradation was identified and then leveraged to examine the global potential for dioxane degradation in natural and engineered environments.
