Abstract
Nutritional requirements were introduced into wild-type, heterothallic strains of
Candida lipolytica
by exposing the cells to X rays. Complementing hybrids were recovered from mixtures of the auxotrophic strains, and genetic recombination was observed in individually isolated ascospores from the hybrid strains.
