Abstract

Elimination of latently HIV-infected cells is required for HIV cure. In the “kick and kill” strategy proposed for a cure to HIV, the host immune system, including HIV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), play a central role in eliminating HIV antigen-expressing cells following reactivation by latency-reversing agents (LRAs).
