Abstract

It is known that budding yeast PCNA sumoylation serves as a ligand to recruit a DNA helicase Srs2 through its tandem receptor motifs that prevent unwanted homologous recombination (HR) at replication forks, a process known as salvage HR. This study reveals detailed molecular mechanisms, in which constitutive PCNA-PIP interaction has been adapted to a regulatory event.
