Abstract
ABSTRACT
Abortion, placental and fetal colonization, and levels of gamma interferon were analyzed for four
Chlamydophila abortus
strains presenting antigenic variations in a mouse model. Expression of virulence of these strains varied and indicated that abortion was not directly related to the number of bacteria in the placenta, and thus, other factors may have an important role in activating the abortion process.
