Abstract

ABSTRACT The aggregation substance of Enterococcus faecalis increased bacterial adherence to and internalization by epithelial cells originating from the colon and duodenum but not by cells derived from the ileum. However, enterococcal translocation through monolayers of intestinal epithelium was not observed.
