Abstract

To colonize mammalian phagocytic cells, the parasiteLeishmaniaremodels phagosomes into parasitophorous vacuoles that can be either tight-fitting individual or communal. The molecular and cellular bases underlying the biogenesis and functionality of these two types of vacuoles are poorly understood.
