Abstract

Cryptococcosis, due to infection by fungi of theCryptococcus neoformansspecies complex, is responsible for substantial morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised persons, particularly those with AIDS. Cryptococcal vaccines are a public health priority yet are not available for human use.
