Abstract

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted, disseminated acute and chronic infection caused by the bacterial pathogen Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum . Primary syphilis typically presents as single or multiple mucocutaneous lesions and, if left untreated, can progress through multiple stages with various clinical manifestations.
