Abstract

AbstractDue to electronic radio frequency encroachment, AM radio signal quality is deteriorating. As a result, the U.S. FCC is offering unprecedented technical assistance. This exploratory study documents the disposition of media managers about the future of the AM band in North America and Europe, the recent FCC’s efforts and role of new digital technologies. Findings show that elite interviewees offered candid and surprising comments on the state of AM radio and the advent of digital delivery.
