La sincope in età pediatrica

Abstract

Syncope is defined as sudden but transient loss of consciousness, usually of short duration and with spontaneous resolution. It represents a frequent cause of recourse to the consultation of a paediatrician. The most frequent cause of syncope between paediatric patients is vaso-vagal, a benign condition for which only behavioural therapy is required. Cardiogenic syncope, even if rare, must always be excluded from the evaluation, looking for the presence of red flags for non-vaso-vagal syncope.
