ABSTRACT
Free, chloroform extractable oestrone and 17β-oestradiol were determined in plasma samples drawn from pregnant women at different periods of gestation by means of an isotope derivative method. Concentrations of the two oestrogens were generally found to be higher, the later in the pregnancy the samples were taken reaching a maximal level of about 15 μg/1 for oestrone and about 30 μg/1 for 17β-oestradiol between the 28th and the 38th week. Several low levels of the same order of magnitude as found in the middle of the pregnancy were observed towards the termination of pregnancy.
