Abstract
ABSTRACT
DIMP, N-(3,5-Dimethyl-4-isoxazolylmethyl)phthalimide, blocked the stimulatory effects of testosterone, androstenedione, nortestosterone, fluoxymesterone and dihydrotestosterone on sex accessory gland weights in castrated male rats. The compound also antagonized the uterotrophic effect of testosterone and inhibited the antigonadotrophic activity of testosterone. DIMP did not manifest androgenic, antigonadotrophic, uterotrophic or progestational activities, and did not antagonize the uterotrophic activity of oestradiol in the rat nor the endometrial response to progesterone in the oestrogen-primed rabbit.
