Abstract
ABSTRACT
Urinary steroid excretion and vaginal cytology were studied in a 31-year old adrenalectomised female during and after the administration of human pituitary gonadotrophin (with predominantly F.S.H. activity), and corticotrophin.
A significant increase (to about 4 times the basal values) in the daily output of 17β-oestradiol, oestrone, oestriol, pregnanediol and pregnanetriol was observed with gonadotrophin injection and a withdrawal bleeding occurred four days after the end of the ovarian stimulation.
These observations are added proof of the existence of an ovarian precursor for pregnanetriol (5β-pregnane-3α,17α,20α-triol).
