Abstract

ABSTRACT The electrogram of the adrenal gland in normal adult male Wistarrats, recorded with a direct current amplifier, showed definite potential differences when corticotrophin was injected intravenously in a dose of ≥ 0.1 U/kg. In rats, whose endogenous ACTH-secretion had been blocked by pretreatment with dexamethasone, the sensitivity of the electrographic technique in assaying ACTH could be lowered to 1.0 mU/kg, i. e. ~ 0.2 mU/animal.
