Abstract
ABSTRACT
Chromic chloride can be used for the coupling of thyroglobulin on red cells. Less thyroglobulin is needed and the test is less time-consuming than previous techniques. Thyroglobulin antibodies in an international standard serum and in the sera of 1137 subjects were determined by this technique and the result compared with the results of the TA-test. Antibodies were detected in 12.3 per cent of the females and in 3.1 per cent of the males. All the antibodies found belonged to 7S globulins. In the total sample there were two hypothyroid patients, both with thyroglobulin antibodies in low titres. The mean cholesterol value in 89 subjects with antibodies was not higher than the mean value in matched controls.
