Abstract
ABSTRACT
Using a method developed by Frandsen the excretion of oestriol has been estimated in several groups of patients with abnormal pregnancies. In all but one of 66 cases of suspected foetal death, the condition of the foetus was predicted correctly.
In two clinically identical groups of patients, one with a low and one with a normal excretion of oestriol, the perinatal mortality was 50% in the first and 6% in the second group respectively.
It is concluded that oestriol estimations are frequently of great value to the clinician.
