Abstract
ABSTRACT
The adrenocortical function has been studied in 10 normal subjects, during periods of oliguria and polyuria successively induced by fluid restriction and water load. There was no relationship between changes in urine volume and the cortisol secretion, its peripheral metabolism or the urinary excretion of its catabolites isolated by chromatography. These data suggest that the previously published relationships between urine volume and urinary steroid excretion were not due to catabolites of cortisol, but to other substances interfering with the reactions of characterization.
