Abstract
ABSTRACT
The effect of short-term administration of large doses of cortisone acetate on the plasma volume, total blood volume and serum protein in man was studied. During the period of administration there was a significant increase in the plasma volume (P < 0.001), the total blood volume (P < 0.001), and the absolute amount of serum protein (P < 0.001). Three days after withdrawing the cortisone, the values had returned to the pretreatment levels.
