EXOPHTHALMUS PRODUZIERENDER FAKTOR (EPF) UND THYREOIDALER JODUMSATZ BEI DER ENDOCRINEN OPHTHALMOPATHIE

Abstract

ABSTRACT Measured with biotests in fishes serum-EPF-activity was shown to be elevated in 81 patients with endocrine exophthalmos of up to two years' duration. The results were not correlated with the level of protein bound iodine in blood or thyroidal 131I-turnover. The highest titers of EPF have been found in patients with longest duration and severest symptoms of ophthalmopathia whereas they did not depend on the thyroid function. In 56 euthyroid and hyperthyroid persons without exophthalmos no serum-EPF-activity could be demonstrated.
