3. As written, Eq. (1) omits small corrections to μe which depend on third and fourth derivatives. These corrections are the order of the bij coefficients, and if these terms are truncated, the expression is correct.
4. The form of Eq. (2) is conventionally used, even though it is not a Taylor’s series expansion because of the absence of a 1/N! term and the restricted summation. If the Taylor’s series form were used, the ∂2μ/∂Qi2 would differ by a factor of 2 from those quoted here.
