Abstract
In this chapter, a numerical method is described for the efficient calculation of the bound and continuum spectrum of hydrogen in terms of B-spline basis functions, and the method is extended trivially to describe single-electron motion in the presence of more-general atomic potentials. The calculation method includes the solution of the radial Schrödinger equation by either direct diagonalization or solving a linear system of equations.
