Abstract
This Letter proposes a novel double-wall structure with pin-fins and slot holes. The overall cooling effectiveness and characteristics of flow field at the slot outlet are verified by infrared thermal imager and particle image velocimetry technology. The results indicate that when the overall cooling effectiveness is nearly identical, the coolant consumption of the double-wall structure proposed in this study is 33.3% lower than that of conventional impingement/effusion structures. Our findings indicate the presence of counter-rotating vortex pairs within the slot film coverage. This phenomenon is expected to result in the accumulation and uplift of coolant downstream of the vortex pairs.
