Abstract
Valproic acid is a widely used, effective anticonvulsive agent with a high tolerability. Valproic acid is reported to cause various movement disorders as adverse effects. Among them, valproic acid induced chorea is rarely reported phenomenon compared to tremor and parkinsonism. Although the pathomechanism of valproic acid induced chorea is still elusive, it is known to be a dose related, reversible condition. We report a patient with generalized chorea secondary to valproic acid and whose condition was completely resolved following cessation of valproic acid.
