Abstract
Summary
This case is about domestic cats who follow instincts for outdoor roaming and, thus, wander in human-made places. People construct these places via ideals regarding aspects of health, safety, and acceptable behaviour. As cats roam in outdoor places, they challenge such ideals through the reality of their lives and human choices. This case considers the issues cats’ presence creates for people and questions the solutions humans contemplate in attempts to protect outdoor place ideals. It asks questions regarding if strategies humans think about to tackle their issues of cats in the outdoors are morally right or wrong in order to stimulate debate.
