This case study investigates the influence of geopolitics on sustainable tourism development in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the complexities arising from global power struggles. It explores how political factors such as competition for maritime dominance, unrest, and regional development shape economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainability. By analyzing stakeholder’s perspectives and integrating political factors into the Triple Bottom Line framework, the study offers insights into navigating challenges and harnessing opportunities for sustainable tourism amidst geopolitical dynamics.
