Abstract
This third edition of Growth of Farm Animals consists of 352 pages and 19 chapters wherein sections from each chapters have been updated. A new chapter (12th chapter: Growth of Avian Species) has been added and a previous chapter has been divided into two chapters. The core remains largely unaltered because it contains, on the whole, immutable facts and principles established over a long period of time. New materials, particularly where there have been significant advances in our understanding of the control, physiology and biochemistry of growth processes in domestic animals are included . In some cases the new material points in directions that may open up fresh avenues of investigation and help in resolving new challenges in animal production. Ethical, welfare and environmental considerations may need to be considered as well as the economic imperatives. Text boxes are included in this edition with the thought that brief summaries of sections covered en route to the ends of chapters will help the reader to focus on the important points covered up to that juncture. The index consists of 12 pages.
