Abstract
Abstract
This expert opinion discusses how the prevalence and persistence of common Ixodes spp.-borne pathogens in the northern hemisphere depends on a delicate balance (determined by the interactions between tick phenology, the duration of infection or infectivity in the host and the life expectancy of hosts); how alternative pathways can enhance persistence; and how these climate-sensitive processes may drive tick and pathogen geographic distribution.
