Abstract
This multiauthor book contains 19 sections discussing the evolution and taxonomy, genetic diversity, domestication, genetic transformation, breeding, agronomy, pre- and postharvest treatments, storage, diseases, pests, onion cultivation in the tropics (including country reports), sulfur compounds and flavour, and ornamental and medicinal uses of Allium spp., particularly garlic, onions, leeks and shallots.
